Day Post 10: Favorite Fenton Gadget - Fenton Thermos
Does the Op Center count? I don’t know if this would have been my choice even if it did count, but the Op Center is pretty awesome in its own right. It can turn into a blimp, which can change into a jet, which can turn into ATVs. Not to mention, it’s a fully equipped radio station (sadly only on the air for a couple hours).
I like the Fenton Crammer for the sole reason that Danny Phantom in a normal teenage outfit looked cool, but that’s about it.
You have to love the Fenton Ghost Portal, because without it the show wouldn’t exist, and I have an appreciation for the Fenton Anti-Creep Stick, because it’s a bat (with the word “Fenton” on it) and I’m softball player/baseball lover.

That all being said, my favorite gadget has to be the Fenton Thermos. It’s a soup thermos for crying out loud, and it holds ghosts. That’s just awesome.
My second favorite is definitely the Fenton Ghost Gabber, mostly because of a fanfic I posted back on Day Post 5 of the Challenge. ^_^
Oh, and I can’t go without bringing up this reason for loving the Fenton Thermos: my favorite baddie is still trapped in one.

That’s it for the Danny Phantom 10 Day Post Challenge from me! That was a lot of fun to do! I guess we’ll be moving on to the next fanfic bio soon, so stay tuned!

Day Post 9: Favorite Movie - The Ultimate Enemy
By this point in my posts, there really shouldn’t be a question as to what my favorite movie is. All of the movies have their moments, but the The Ultimate Enemy stands alone.
TUE has everything that Danny Phantom represents as a show. It has humor, quirkiness, family, teenage problems, and right vs. wrong. But TUE has more. It’s dark, it’s evil, and it shows that even the best of heroes can become villains.
What happened to Danny in an alternate timeline is a very real threat. Everyone in the world has cheated at some point in their lives (if you’ve ever played 7up, then you’ve cheated). Maybe not on the scale that Danny did by looking at the answers to the Career Aptitude Test, but on some scale. By finding the answers like Danny did, it was an opportunity that a lot of people wouldn’t turn away. Assuming the original events played out the same way they did in the movie, then Danny didn’t even steal the answers. They more or less fell right into his hands (or stuck to his back with fast food gunk, ew), and to any 14 year old, that’s tempting.
When Mr. Lancer discovers they’re missing, and overhears Tucker mention Danny “cheating,” obviously the teacher would assume Danny stole the answers. As any teacher would, Mr. Lancer meets with Danny’s parents to discuss what had happened. Why they met at a fast food restaurant is beyond me, I think the school would make more sense, but whatever. Sam, Tucker, and Jazz were also there for whatever reason. One thing leads to another, because I don’t think that fight took place in the original timeline, based on Dan’s actions, the Nasty Burger sauce blew up, and everyone but Danny died.
If everyone you cared about died, especially because of something that was your fault, imagine the guilt that would eat at you. Danny was so heartbroken and in so much emotional pain that he went to live with Vlad of all people. People can’t make the argument that he had no choice but to live with Vlad, but legally he would have gone to a relative, which would have been Aunt Alicia. Danny had to have chosen to go to Vlad.

Danny comes up with the notion that the only way to make the pain and guilt go away is to separate his human and ghost halves. “No more human emotions to tie you down.” Something goes wrong, and Danny’s ghost half turns on them, ripping out Vlad’s ghost half, and merging with it, creating the most evil ghost of all time.
And all of this stemmed from Danny cheating on a test. As extreme as it is, it’s honestly a very realistic turn of events. There is so much Danny learns from this encounter with his evil older self, and it all comes down to the fact that all of your choices have consequences.
I can’t rave about TUE without mentioning the ultimate enemy himself, that evil, jerky, puss pack alternative version of Danny. He goes by many names, Dark Danny, Dark Dan, Phantom, and Dan Phantom, which are the more common names he goes by, but as I have been referring to him as Dan Phantom so far, I will continue with that name.

Dan Phantom is my favorite villain because he is a true villain. Sure, Vlad is evil with his plans to kill Jack, clone Danny, take over the world, yadayadayada. And Skulker wants Danny’s pelt at the foot of his bed, or on his wall, whatever. But Dan is ruthless. He doesn’t care who he kills, as long as he’s enjoying it. Vlad wants to kill Jack, but he has feelings for Maddie, and doesn’t want to hurt her. Dan could care less about his parents, and would kill them again if he could, as he indeed tries to do in TUE. He has no conscious, and despite feelings for Sam that he had when he was younger, he has no qualms strapping her to the Nasty Sauce tank, condemning her, Tucker, and his family (and Mr. Lancer) to death.
The only reason he spares his younger self, who he outwardly despises and views as weak and pathetic, the only reason he keeps Danny alive is because he would cease to exist. Now that he exists out of time however, one wonders whether that is the case anymore. If Dan had returned in the series, and it has been said that if season 4 had happened before Danny Phantom was cancelled, he would have come back, I’m willing to bet he would have been even more ruthless. Why, Nickelodeon, WHY?!

There’s the fact of Danny fearing Dan in itself that appeals TUE to me. It adds another layer to Danny, and is another struggle that the hero within him must deal with. He is now constantly checking himself to avoid becoming that bleak future that could have happened, and he has a reoccurring fear that he could become evil again. Though these musings are never mentioned again in the series, it is certainly implied. Notice that Danny has never fought back or pulled pranks on Dash since TUE? I believe that last time was Reign Storm, which is the last time we saw Dash anyway (I don’t remember him being in Identity Crisis or The Fenton Menace). Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
So as I’ve stated in an earlier post, I kind of have a thing for fanfics in which Dan returns. Again, they need to be done well, but you get the point. I wish I could have seen an episode with Danny’s reaction, but that is what fanfiction is for: to create the moments you wish existed.
I’m sure there is much more I could rave about for The Ultimate Enemy, but I’m sure you get the point. ^_^

Day Post 8: Favorite Danny’s Ghost Power - Ghostly Wail
“Favorite Danny’s Ghost Power.” I literally spent ten minutes trying to figure out how to fix that grammar and I eventually gave up.
Anyway.
I’ll start by explaining my second favorite power of Danny’s, which is Cryokinesis. This is the one power of Danny’s that so visibly evolves throughout the series, even if you don’t realize it until Urban Jungle. I remember the moment I saw Frostbite for the first time in Urban Jungle, and I was like “Oh yeah! He said back in Infinite Realms that they had more in common than Danny realized.” Way to think ahead, Butch! I don’t know if Danny was always planned for ice powers, even with his ghost sense, but either way, the development worked, and it was really cool to see the progression of a seemingly small ability of Danny’s grow into a formidable power. Not to mention, I like his ghostly ice-blue eyes!

But my favorite power of Danny’s happens to be his most powerful ability, which is the Ghostly Wail. This is my favorite power for a few reasons. One: when Danny takes a huge breath, you know shit’s about to go down. Two: it’s so freaking destructive! I think one of my favorite moments that he used it was in Kindred Spirits against Vlad. Vlad was like o.O when did Daniel get that power? Three: it’s tangible (kinda?) proof that Danny can change his future. In Danny’s words, “The future’s not as set in stone as you think it is.” By gaining this power ten years before his evil older self, Danny shows that he can be stronger than his evil self, and he’s not constricted to that evil future.

I also like that whenever Danny uses it, he gets really wiped out from it, and usually reverts back to human form. It shows that Danny’s not all-powerful, and despite having such a powerful attack at his disposal, it comes with risks, and he still has a long way to go.

Day Post 7: Favorite Scene - Danny and Vlad’s Sword Fight
I wish I could make a gif of this, or find one bigger than the one above, because it is so damn awesome. I will literally watch an episode of Infinite Realms just for this scene. Of course, I love Infinite Realms anyway, so it’s really just an added bonus.
It’s just impossible to deny that Danny (and Vlad) look like badasses when they’re battling it out like that. Also, Danny looked awesome in his ninja (samurai?) outfit before this scene.
I have to admit though, a very close second to the sword fight scene would be the scene in Living Large when Danny transforms into Phantom in a flying front flip.

#SWAG

Day Post 6: Favorite Ship - Amethyst Ocean
So after some heavy deliberation, I’d have to say my favorite ship is Youngblood’s ghost ship. Kidding!
But really, I had some difficulties coming up with this one. One of the things I appreciate about Danny Phantom is that it actually explores different ship options, which is why there are so many available. Not to mention the amount of head canons out there that manipulate canon into making you think certain pairings legit exist.
I could cheat and say my favorite pair is Jack and Maddie, but I don’t think married couples count as a ship ^_^

I appreciate that Danny had multiple love interests, and he actually got to explore his options with them. Although Paulina was overshadowed by Kitty for Lucky in Love, Danny did go to the school dance with her in Parental Bonding. Not to mention Danny and Valerie’s relationship development, that I actually really appreciated. The went from both hating each other, to mutual respect, to dating, and back to a weird level of mutual friendship. Definitely one of the more dynamic relationships in the series. And of course, the consistent and highly amusing relationship of Danny and Sam, who both harbored secret feelings for the other (even if they didn’t realize it for a while) until Phantom Planet.
Poor Tucker seems to get the shaft in the love department, always trying but never really getting the girl, unless they’re using him. I do appreciate a good fanfic when he ends up back with Valerie (for reals though and not her using him), but I won’t go as far as to say that’s my favorite ship. I do dislike when Tucker and Jazz get shipped though. No offense to anyone, but it’s just not my cup of tea.
And then of course they’re pairings like Pitch Pearl, which I certainly have an appreciation for ^_^, and Pompous Pep (which I personally don’t support, but I’m not against it), which add a whole new dynamic to shipping in Danny Phantom.

All that being said, I have to fall back and say my favorite pairing is Amethyst Ocean, which is Danny x Sam. Their slow development from best friends into something more was fun to watch, especially with all of those embarrassing moments along the way. I don’t like when fanfictions make their relationship of boyfriend-girlfriend perfect (when they get there). Every relationship has flaws, and Danny and Sam are no exception. Even in the show they get in fights, but it happens, and then they get over it.

I do have an appreciation (how many times have I said appreciated or something? >_<) for Danny x Valerie, because especially when she broke up with him, you could see how much she cared for him, and how much Danny cared for her in return. That scene was a bit heartbreaking to watch. Of course, for that to work, Danny would have to come clean about Phantom, and I would have liked to see that reveal happen in the show (other than Phantom Planet). I’ll just have to appease myself with fanfiction.
By the way, props to the Phandom for coming up with the most creative ship names ever. If you’re curious, here’s a list of all the known Danny Phantom ship names. Some are quite hilarious. Though I do not support it, my favorite name has to be Psycho Cereal. ^_^

Day Post 5: Favorite Quote - “You don’t get it, do you? I’m still here. I still exist! That means you still turn into me.”
This one was really hard to choose, because there are sooo many good ones! I could go with my favorite comedic line of “Curse this infernal messy room! This looks like a job for…THE VACUUM CLEANER!!” or an inspirational line like “Maybe that’s all anyone ever needs—a second chance.”
There are so many options! I also enjoy ”I can’t believe I didn’t figure it out before. You have a girlfriend.” “It’s a lie, I’m not a ghost! I mean, she’s not my girlfriend.” And I could literally go on.
There’s also the problem of the Fenton Ghost Gabber. There’s a certain fanfic I’ve read that just takes that little phrase of “Fear me!” to a whole new level of annoyance and hilarity. Check it out here if you have time!
ANYWAY…
I have to make a decision, and I’d have to say my favorite quote is “You don’t get it, do you? I’m still here. I still exist! That means you still turn into me.” There are a few reasons why this is my favorite quote. The main reason is that it is so effing chilling when Dark Danny (you know what? I like calling him Dan Phantom, so I’mma stick with that) Dan says that. I mean, watching the show, and any series for that matter, you always expect the good guy to win. When Dan says that line—despite cartoon logic in the back of your head that demands the hero come out victorious—I have a legitimate fear that Danny could become that. And if I hold that fear, I know Danny harbors that fear a thousand fold.

I love fanfictions that Dan returns in (when it’s done well, mind you) mostly for the scene that Danny realizes that Dan has returned. When Vlad shows up, Danny’s not afraid, he’s pissed. If Dan were to show up again, you know that Danny would be paralyzed with fear (he’d eventually snap out of it and realize he needs to move his ass to make sure no one dies, but give him a minute).
And another reason I love this quote (among others) is that Dan’s voice is super seductive. Don’t judge me. ^_^

Day Post 4: Most Annoying Character - The Box Ghost Poindexter
Sorry, but this isn’t an “Ask Danny” blog, so while the Box Ghost may annoy the hell out of Danny and the gang, to me he’s a fantastic source of entertainment. Therefore, Poindexter is easily the most annoying character in the series for me. He’s legitimately the only character I have never thought positive things about. It just pissed me off to no end that the one time (*cough*) that Danny actually stood up for himself and fought back against Dash’s bullying, Danny’s the one who gets Poindexter’s anti-bullying wrath. Come on! Poor Danny, always getting beat on by Dash and Co., and when he tries to fight back, he gets shot down again by a grey 50s ghost trapped in a mirror.

What the hell.
Now don’t get me wrong. I feel for Poindexter, no one should be bullied like he was (hell, bullying shouldn’t exist at all), but Poindexter was bullying Danny just as much. An eye for an eye makes the world blind. Well, if I got back at everyone who bullied me throughout my elementary and high school days, anyone who sells eye patches wouldn’t be having any issues with the economy right now, that’s all I have to say about that.

Day Post 3: Favorite Ghost - Ember McLain
I’d have to say Ember is my favorite ghost. Along with Skulker and Spectra, Ember seems to have a really developed personality which makes her unique from ghosts like the Lunch Lady, Klemper, and The Box Ghost. The reason why Skulker got dropped from the running is because he’s a blob that needs a huge robotic suit to be anywhere near threatening, and Spectra got dropped because she’s practically a pedophile. I mean really, people, I know the Casper High dress code isn’t exactly enforced very well, but you’re letting your school therapist in a mini-mini-skirt? No. Ghosts like Walker and Frostbite are more defined, but I don’t think they have as much development as the first three. Clockwork would definitely be in the running, because he’s the freaking ghost of time, but I just find more dynamics with Ember.
I also think I’d be cheating if I said Dan Phantom, because I’ve already alluded to him in the previous post, and trust me when I say he’ll be alluded to again.
Ember’s my favorite because she has such a spunky personality, and as old school as her insults are, they work for her. Also, she has one of the most developed personalities out of Danny’s recurring enemies, and she’s the only ghost that you can really imagine a detailed background for her past, before she became a ghost per say (with the exceptions of Danny, Dani, Vlad, and Dan, obviously, but do they count really?), and you could actually care about what that past was. I mean, pay attention to the lyrics of her full song. Shit had to have gone down in her life for that to come out. Not to mention all of the background the creators have written out for her.
I must admit though, Cujo is a very close second. ^_^

He’s so freaking cute!!! XD

Day Post 2: Favorite Character - Danny Fenton/Phantom
This may or may not be a cliché answer, but Danny truly is my favorite character of the series. He’s not perfect, but he’s a well rounded character. He’s bullied at school, and yet is secretly a hero to the town. He uses his powers for good and never to harm (usually ^_^), but at the same time he’s aware that he’s capable of turning bad. Danny’s a unique mix of wit, shyness, heroism, and quirkiness.
I chose the picture I did because as much as I love Danny, I kinda have a thing for Dan. ^_^

Day Post 1: Favorite Episode - Identity Crisis
Since it’s asking for an episode, and movies is another post, I’m excluding the hour long episodes from this.
Identity Crisis is my favorite episode because it is just so damn funny. My friend Alexis and I constantly break out in quotes from this episode. For instance: “Curse this infernal messy room! This looks like a job for…THE VACUUM CLEANER!!!” No, that’s not my favorite quote, but it certainly is up there. You’ll find out my favorite quote later.
Not to mention, this episode is more than likely the birth of Pitch Pearl.
^_^
